Sadi Carnot， a French physicist and engineer， made significant contributions to improving steam engine efficiency with his ideal heat engine concept. However， his early death at 36 in 1832 prevented widespread recognition of his energy conservation principles， which were later understood by engineer Clapeyron. His work on steam engines and thermodynamics is a historical遗憾.
