We are in a society where there are so many moments in life but a special one missed: finding ourselves. The society is being tested and we are lost, in a moment we always want to know who we really are, why we are here, and how to be a better person. This is Real Story, we are on.

The old man rode a bike to take a walk, only to be found on the highway; 80-year-old grandma went out for shopping, but forgot the way home. How to prevent the events from happening in the first place ?A community has come up with a good idea—making QR codes for the old. All information of an old person such as his name, e-mail, phone, and address will be stored in the QR code and displayed on the screen if it is scanned. When one gets lost, the passers-by  will use their telephones to scan the QR codes. Finally, by contacting with the community, the lost old will be taken home.

What’s more, the operation will strictly protect the privacy of all involved cell phone users, and that the resulting information service for citizens will not leak any personal data. At present, all the world’s developed countries have entered the aging society, many developing countries are or will soon enter an aging society. Elder care should be valued highly in society. After knowing above, we should be aware of the importance of protecting the elder, so let’s give better care of them, and enable them to enjoy more warmth in old age.

According to a CNN report, it seems Japan has a better idea:

“CNN reports that a city in Japan wants to apply QR code stickers, similar to the application of microchips on pets, to the elderly, to ensure they're easily found when they are lost. Officials in Iruma, near Tokyo, are supplying small waterproof QR code stickers to families with elderly relatives at risk of wandering away from their homes and getting lost. The QR stickers can reportedly last for about a month and can be stuck onto a fingernail or carried around on a key holder. If a person were to ever come across a member of the elderly population, they could simply scan their sticker with their smart-phone, and find out the wearer's registration number, their hometown and the telephone number of their city hall. The program is hoping to connect a missing person to their family more easily.”

It seems using a sticker on the old people’s nails sounds more interesting. You are listening to Real Story, I’m Frank. You can subscribe for more stories and leave your comments too.
